Question by Dara: Any ideas of what to write about on my blog? and how to keep up with fashion news?

I’m fourteen and this is my blog: http://theblogoftherandom.blogspot.com/
I love fashion but I can’t write much about it because I don’t know much.

Any suggestions on how to keep up with fashion news? and be accurate about older things?

I like surfing on this site: http://nymag.com/ is there any other sites similar to, or better than this one?
I live in a small town, there aren’t any malls within 2 hours from here.

If you want to learn about fashion there is no better way then reading the top fashion magazines; like Vogue, In Style, Marie Claire, Elle, Bazaar, etc. You’ll learn about current trends, and get a feel on how fashion columns are written. (Most magazines have websites with additional fashion info on them too.) You should also look look at current fashion blogs that are popular. Learn from what they talk about and how they write. (DON’T STEAL FROM THEIR POSTS THOUGH!). Reading up on the history of fashion and costume will help you understand the dynamics behind current garments. It will help you be able to pick out certain elements of clothing design that have been used for centuries. You should also stay on top of current and up-and-coming designers. Look at their websites to view their clothes. And last but not least you should go to the mall! Look at how the everyday teenager is dressing; what trends/styles they are wearing. Also take a stroll through the racks of H&M, Banana Republic, Nordstroms, Macy’s, etc and see what type of clothes are being sold. Do they resemble current high fashion collections?

EDIT: Go anywhere that there is a lot of people. The local highschool, or popular food restuart, etc if you are unable to make it to the mall.
